Guitarist Tuning Guide

Guitar Guide

All the exercises in this course are done in C major. However, guitarists will usually work in keys like E major, A major, D major, G major, etc. Below is a guide to tuning the keyboard so that no matter what key you're writing in, you can continue to just play the white keys of the keyboard.

E major - transpose keyboard up 4 semitones

D major - transpose keyboard up 3 semitones

A major - transpose keyboard down 3 semitones

G major - - transpose keyboard down 5 semitones

F major - transpose keyboard up 5 semitones

Bb major - transpose keyboard down 2 semitones

Eb major - transpose keyboard up 3 semitones

Also, it's hard to play guitar and practice melodic words. My suggestion would be, get Band in Box, have it play your chord or chords with a rhythm similar to what you have, and that way you can practice and experiment with melodic words easier and it might generate new ideas in your head that you wouldn't get otherwise.
